April 20, 2009
Dear Parents,
We are nearing the end of this year’s Religious Education program. The students, you and I have learned about Jesus and his teachings about love, charity and justice, and the Kingdom of God. It brings me joy and much satisfaction to watch you and your children grow stronger in their understanding of the gospel.
As we near the end of this year I will spend time in prayer and reflecting on this past year’s experience with you. I would invite you, also, to spend time in prayer and reflect on your own growth in faith this past year and how you’ve seen your child’s faith grow stronger. Do you feel that we worked together as partners in learning about our faith, exploring what it means to live as Catholic Christians, and helping your child grow in love for God and others? Your experience of this past learning year is very important to me. Please feel free to share your thoughts with me. This can be done by jotting them on a sheet of paper and returning it with your registration form. All information will be kept confidential. I will compile a list and try to make adjustments for the coming 2009-2010 year.
Some things to consider:
- Were the topics each month beneficial
- What events were a plus for you
- What would you like to see changed in the year(s) ahead
- Were the times convenient for you
- Other comments
Following this letter is a registration form for next year. During this year we found information in our computer’s data base wrong or missing. We would ask that you fill out this form and return it to us by May 4th. Please note that ½ of the tuition is due by September 15, 2009 in order for your family to be active in our program. This will serve as your registration form for the 2009-2010 year. We are also asking for your e-mail address. We are trying to conserve on costs and if we have your e-mail address, we can better communicate with you by this means and eliminate postage. Of course, if you do not have e-mail we will continue to mail information to you.
For example, it would be much easier if we have to cancel sessions at the last minute or make a change in location of classes to notify you by e-mail, rather than our staff making numerous phone calls to inform you of a change. Also forms for sacramental years can be e-mailed to you if you are unable to attend a meeting in which forms were handed out.
I am excited to be working with you, your son or daughter as we share faith together and build on the foundation that was begun at their Baptism. We are currently working on a calendar for the 2009-2010 year.
Sessions are tentatively scheduled to begin for our Visionaries (Grade 6-8) on September 21, 2009. Sacramental Preparation will also begin in September 2009. Our Family Program will begin on October 12th or 13th, 2009. We will continue to provide the best faith formation process for you and your family. Hopefully together we can build on the foundation that was laid for us by Jesus as he walked the face of the earth and changed the lives of people forever.
Enjoy the summer and time with your family and friends.
If you have any questions, please call the office 1-586-264-2777 to talk to Peggy Montgomery the Religious Formation secretary or myself, any Monday or Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM until the program ends at the end of June for this year.
