Religious Formation for those with Special Needs

Hello, and thank you for your interest in the faith life of those with special learning needs. With great certainty and joy we know that God's great love and power is never limited or disabled or impaired. It is with humility and awe that we witness God's Spirit in each of His "special disciples".

Our program flows from the premise that we are all God's children and that God dearly loves and interacts with each of us. In our gatherings, we celebrate that belonging, learn about our faith and seek to enable each person to participate actively in their faith. It is a wonderful community and we all enjoy coming together.

We meet Wednesday evenings at 6:30 from October until early May. Each class begins with a group activity, then students move into classes based on age, ability, sacramental preparation, etc. We attempt to use a variety of ways to teach and reinforce concepts and engage each person. Our lessons are based on Scripture, sacraments, the basics of our faith, prayer, the liturgical year and ways to live as people of God.

Students are welcomed from age six on. Our group includes those who have cognitive impairments, autism and physical impairments.

Again, thank you for your interest. For information, call 586 264 2777.
