“From their abodes the children of light descend, they rejoice in the midst of the world.”
--from a hymn written by St. Ephrem
St. Ephrem has left us hundreds of hymns and spiritual songs. His originality and skill is said to have touched the hearts of the Christian community of his day and he is given credit for awakening the Church to the importance of music in enlivening the faith. All of those involved in music ministry here at St. Ephrem take seriously the statement from the above quote by St. Ephrem. It is our hope and prayer that through our ministry of music we may enable the “children of light” as they “rejoice in the midst of the world.”
